Salud Natural Entrepreneur Inc. recalls Nopalina Flax Seed Fiber products

Salud Natural Entrepreneur, Inc. of Waukegan, Illinois, is voluntarily recalling Nopalina Flax Seed Fiber (powder) and Nopalina Flax Seed Fiber (capsule) products due to possible Salmonella contamination in one of the ingredients used on the formula of Nopalina Flax Seed Fiber. 

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. Consumers of these products who are experiencing symptoms of Salmonella should contact their health care provider. To date, there are no reports of illnesses associated with the products.

Nopalina Flax Seed products are distributed throughout the United States and Puerto Rico via retail stores and the company’s web site.

The recall is the result of a US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sampling of senna leaves powder, an ingredient used to manufacture the Nopalina Flax Seed Fiber (powder) and Nopalina Flax Seed Fiber (capsules), that tested positive for three types of Salmonella including Salmonella Gaminara, Salmonella Kentucky, and Salmonella Oranienburg. The company has ceased the use of the suspect ingredient.

Consumers who have purchased Nopalina Flax Seed Powder and Nopalina Flax Seed Capsules having the lot numbers listed on the FDA website should not consume them and are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Beepa’s recalls Goulash

Beepa’s of Beloit, Wisconsin is recalling Goulash, because it may contain undeclared milk. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The Goulash Starter was distributed throughout Wisconsin and Northern Illinois grocery stores. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that product containing milk was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of milk in the sub ingredients of the non-dairy creamer.

Consumers who have purchased this product and do have a milk allergy, have been advised to return the product to the store for a refund.

Bakkavor Foods USA, Inc. recalls Mushroom Barley Soup

Bakkavor Foods USA, Inc. is voluntarily recalling 840 units of Harris Teeter’s Fresh Food Market Mushroom Barley Soup, 16 oz because it may contain undeclared milk. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that Chicken Wild Rice Soup containing milk was distributed in Mushroom Barley Soup packaging that did not reveal the presence of milk. The problem was discovered when a Harris Teeter employee was stocking store shelves and noticed the discrepancy.

Subsequent investigation indicates that this isolated problem was caused by a very limited deviation in the company’s production and packaging process.

Products were distributed to Harris Teeter’s retail stores in Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Washington DC. To date there have been no reported consumer illnesses.

Consumers should discard the product immediately or return it to their point of purchase for a full refund.

Astrochef LLC. recalls pepperoni stuffed pizza sandwich products

Astrochef LLC., a Rockwall, Texas establishment, is recalling approximately 7,363 pounds of pepperoni stuffed pizza sandwich products because the product is mislabelled and contains undeclared soy, a known allergen, the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. The products are labelled as pepperoni stuffed pizza sandwich products but may contain meatball stuffed pizza sandwich products inside the package.

The problem was discovered when the firm received consumer complaints about products labelled as Mega Sandwich Pepperoni Stuffed Pizza that contained a meatball stuffed pizza sandwich product. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.

Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.  FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
