Salmonella

Sabra Dipping Company has issued a voluntary recall of one batch of its Classic Hummus, as there are fears it may be contaminated with Salmonella. The potential contamination was picked up during a routine screening process by the US Food and Drug Administration, and is limited to tubs produced between 6pm and midnight with a best before date of 26 April. Foreign Objects

There have been several recalls relating to foreign objects this week, beginning in the UK, where Nestle UK has recalled its SMA Wysoy Infant Formula as it may contain pieces of blue plastic. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is warning consumers who have purchased the affected products not to feed them to their baby, but instead to call the SMA careline to organise a refund. In the US, Trident Seafoods Corporation is issuing a voluntary recall of a single lot number of Pacific Salmon Burgers, as they may contain small pieces of metal. The FDA is advising customers with the product that has a lot code of GC101431 and a best before date of 14/1/23 to return it to the store it was purchased from for a full refund.

Meanwhile, in Germany, The Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) has reported the recall of Eifel Quelle Classic water, as certain bottles may contain glass pieces. Eifel Quelle says customers can return the product to the store it was bought from for a full refund. The BVL says that currently the affected product is reported to have been sold in the states of Hessen, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Rhineland Palatinate.

Undeclared allergens

Little Dish is recalling its British Chicken & Veg Pie in the UK because it contains fish, which is not mentioned on the label. The FSA reports that “due to a packaging error, some of the packets contain fish pie. Affected products have ‘Fish Pie’ marked on the film of the product.” This makes the product potentially dangerous to those with a fish allergy. The affected product has best before date of 18 April 2021.
