This week’s recall roundup features Listeria concerns and fish wire alerts in the US, as well as supermarket recalls in the UK.

Recall Roundup: further cucumber-related recalls and undeclared allergens

Pathogens

US manufacturer Southeastern Grocers is recalling its Fisherman’s Wharf brand Jumbo Cooked Shrimp, Frozen 16-20 count, thanks to a possible Listeria contamination. The product was sold in all was sold in all Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie stores. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is advising consumers who have purchased the product to throw it away and not to eat it.

Undeclared allergens

UK supermarket Tesco is recalling Tesco Green Thai Style Sauce because it contains milk which is not mentioned on the label, meaning the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents. The product has a pack size of 180g and has a best before date of 21 November 2021. Tesco is advising consumers with a milk allergy not to eat the product, but instead to return it to store for a full refund.

In addition, fellow supermarket Co-op is recalling Co-op Salmon En Croute because it contains undeclared prawns (crustaceans) which is not mentioned on the label. Due to a packaging error some packs have been incorrectly labelled, making them unsafe to eat for those with an allergy to prawns/or crustaceans. Foreign objects

Flowers Foods is voluntarily recalling certain Tastykake multi-pack cupcakes and certain Krimpets products due to the potential presence of tiny fragments of metal mesh wire.

The Tastykake multi-pack cupcakes products being recalled were distributed to retail customers in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington DC, and West Virginia. The Tastykake Krimpets products being recalled were distributed to retail customers throughout the US. For more information on the recall visit the FDA’s website.

In Canada, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has informed consumers of PataFoods’ recall of its Amara brand Organic Smoothie Melts – Carrot Raspberry from the marketplace due to potential presence of pieces of plastic. The affected product has a best before date of 7/5/2023, but more information on the recall is available here.
