This week’s recall roundup is dominated by Listeria contaminated mushrooms, plus foreign objects and undeclared allergen alerts in the US, Canada, and the UK.

Recall Roundup: animal matter contamination and undeclared allergens

Pathogens

In Canada, Stellar Bay Shellfish is recalling certain Stellar Bay Shellfish brand Chef Creek Oysters from the marketplace due to possible norovirus contamination. The recalled products have been sold in British Columbia but and may have been distributed in other provinces and territories.

Listeria Monocytogenes has been detected in enoki mushrooms across the US.

Jan Fruits Inc. of Vernon California is recalling all its cases of its 200g/7.05oz packages of enoki mushrooms (Product of Taiwan) because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, The recalled enoki mushroom product was distributed in California to produce distributors or wholesalers for further distribution to retail stores.

T Fresh Company of California is recalling its enoki mushrooms grown in China because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. More information can be found here.

Also in the US, Top Quality Produce, Inc is recalling its enoki mushroom packages, product of Taiwan due to the Listeria contamination of enoki mushrooms was discovered. More information can be found on the FDA website.

WiseTrade Corporation of Irvine, California is recalling all its cases of its 200g/7.05oz packages of enoki mushrooms (Product of Korea) because it too may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled enoki mushroom product was distributed in California to produce distributors or wholesalers for further distribution to retail stores. There are no lot codes or dates on the packages.

Foreign Objects

In the UK, Parsons Pickles is recalling its pickled mussels due to pieces of glass found in products. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product which will explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product. A&C Best Food Trading Inc., is recalling its “Wife Plum” due to the presence of banned dye and undeclared sulphite. More information on the dried plums can be found on the FDA website.  

Continental Mills has issued a recall of Kroger Buttermilk Pancake & Waffle Mix, due to a potential foreign material contamination. Fragments from a cable used to clear the processing line were discovered in a limited amount of product. The states that this product was distributed in can be found here.

Undeclared Allergens

In Canada, Uncle T Food is recalling Taisun brand Vegetarian Mushroom Jerky (Hot) from the marketplace because it may contain milk which is not declared on the label. The recalled product has been sold in British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario.

Also in Canada, Dam Sen Dried Seafood brand Garlic Roasted Dried Squid recalled due to undeclared sesame. The recalled product has been sold in Alberta, British Columbia and Manitoba.

In the UK, Liroy B.V. is recalling Sau Tao ST Spinach Noodles because it contains egg which is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to egg.

In the US, The Salsa Texan of Flower Mound, Texas is voluntarily recalling its regular and burrito sized packages of Coconut Flour Tortillas because they may contain undeclared wheat. The recalled tortillas were distributed nationwide through the mail, following orders made via the social media platforms, Facebook and Instagram. The recalled tortillas were also sold at various Farmers Markets in Texas the months of August and September 2021. More information can be found here.

Also in the US, St. Benoit Creamery of Sonoma, California is recalling French Vanilla Yogurt, best by date 8/22/2022, because it may contain undeclared egg.  People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to egg allergen run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. The product was distributed in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington through retail stores.
