Sulphites

In the UK, Lidl GB is recalling its XXL Ocean Sea Cooked & Peeled Large Prawns as they contain sulphites which are not mentioned on the label.

The product comes in a pack size of 1kg and has a best before date of January 2025. Lidl GB has issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers to explain to them why the product is being recalled. The discount supermarket has also been asked to contact relevant allergy support organisations which will inform their members about the recall.

Consumers that have purchased the product that have a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites, have been advised not to eat it. Instead you can return it to the store of purchase for a full refund with or without a receipt.

Contaminations

Elsewhere in the UK, Tesco is recalling its Growers Harvest Garden Peas due to a possible contamination of an unknown type of berry.

The supermarket giant has said that this possible contamination makes the product “unsafe to eat”.

The Growers Harvest Garden Peas comes in a pack size of 900g and have various best before dates. To view the full list of recalled items along with their batch codes click this link.

Advice to consumers states that those that have purchased the product should not it eat and should return it to the store of purchase for a full refund with or without the receipt.

Foreign objects

The foreign materials in question include a disposable hairnet, shrink wrap and parchment paper.

The company has stated that “foodborne foreign objects that are flexible and not sharp may cause minor injuries such as transient choking or gastrointestinal system injury”.

This recall only concerns three batches of Burn Boot Camp Afterburn Grass-Fed Whey Protein Bars (60 grams) Triple Chocolate Almond flavour products manufactured by Doctors Scientific Organica.

Recalled products were distributed through Burn Bootcamp retail locations, as well as via its website to locations throughout the US.

Doctors Scientific Organica has claimed that “no illnesses or injuries have been reported” but it is “taking this action out of an abundance of caution after consumers contacted Burn Boot Camp”.

If you have purchased the affected products, advice states not to eat them and instead return them to the location of purchase. Alternatively, the product can be destroyed.
