Sessions that aren’t to be missed: Day One

No two event sessions are ever alike, and our agenda is filled with opportunities for leading industry minds to share their insight and expertise on some of the biggest challenges that are currently facing the food and beverage sector.

Food safety

Our first panel session of the event will see a collection of experts reveal the most concerning food safety threats that they see coming over the horizon in 2025 and beyond, and explore the potential challenges and emerging risks posed by global environmental changes, biotechnology advancements and shifts in consumer behaviours. The debate will also delve into how these factors might influence food contamination, disease outbreaks and supply chain vulnerabilities. Panellists will also examine the readiness of current food safety systems to adapt and respond to these future threats, offering insights into proactive strategies and innovations required to safeguard food integrity in the years to come.

With the Vice President of Global Quality & Food Safety at Barilla, Senior Manager of Food Safety and Quality at Walmart and the Global Director of Food Safety at ADM already confirmed to speak, this session is set to offer an eye-opening glance into the biggest challenges related to food safety and how some of the leading companies within food and beverage are working to tackle them.

Sustainability

As climate change concerns become ever more prominent, and industries across the globe are face stringent targets to become more sustainable, the question on everyone’s minds is, how will these efforts impact things like food safety, supply chains and manufacturing costs?

As we strive for greater sustainability in our food system, do we run the risk of relegating food safety to a secondary concern? On Day One, during our ‘Sustainability and food safety: Friends or foes?’ panel session, our leading industry speakers will explore the potential risks that might come with a greener food system.

Already confirmed for this session is Mars’ Chief Science Officer and Nomad Foods’ Global Corporate Affairs & Sustainability Director, making it one of many sessions that should definitely not be missed.

Food fraud

As a growing concern for consumers, regulators, and businesses alike, food fraud poses significant risks to public health, economic integrity and brand trust. And so, it was vital that we made sure to shine a spotlight on such a topical challenge within our agenda.

In this compelling panel debate, the Head of Food Safety – Chemical Contaminants and Packaging at Nestlé, the Professor of Food Supply Chain Integrity at University College Dublin and a representative from Marks & Spencer will come together to tackle the multifaceted issue of food fraud. Over the course of this session, they will look to dissect the current landscape of food fraud, exploring innovative strategies for detection, prevention and enforcement.

And plenty more!

This is, of course, not all that Day One of our agenda has to offer. Honourable mentions also go to our ‘Cultured meat: Future or fad?’, ‘Owens Law in Action’ and ‘Beyond the price tag: Unpacking the retail price bubble in food safety’ sessions, which will take the opportunity to delve deeper into the key issues of lab-grown meat innovation, allergens and the cost structure of food production.
