In the latest instalment of Recall Roundup (31 January – 6 February 2025), New Food highlights recent food and beverage recalls in the UK and US.
Undeclared milk
In the UK this week, Birds Eye is recalling Goodfella’s Stonebaked Thin Garlic Bread because it contains milk which is not mentioned on the label.
The garlic bread has been mispacked with garlic bread that contains cheese. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.
Recalled product:
- Goodfella’s Stonebaked Thin Garlic Bread (218g) – Batch code: 5020, Best before: December 2025
If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk, do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.
Burning sensation
Lidl is extending the recall of two Alpenfest Salted Mini Pretzel products because they may cause a burning sensation in the mouth when consumed, potentially causing discomfort and making them unsafe to the consumer.
Recalled products:

If you have bought any of the above products do not consume them. Instead, return them to the nearest Lidl store for a full refund.
Listeria monocytogenes contamination
Lidl Northern Ireland is extending its recall of Deluxe Cheddar Cheese Wedge products to include Deluxe Walnut Cheddar Cheese Wedge and Deluxe Oak Smoked Cheddar Cheese Wedge because Listeria monocytogenes has been found in these products.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause severe, sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.
Healthy individuals may experience short-term symptoms, including fever, headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhoea. For pregnant women, infection can result in miscarriage or stillbirth.
Recalled products:
- Deluxe Sriracha Cheddar Cheese Wedge (150g) – Best before: 11 May 2025
- Deluxe Walnut Cheddar Cheese Wedge (150g) – Best before: 11 May 2025
- Deluxe Oak Smoked Cheddar Cheese Wedge (150g) – Best before: 11 May 2025
Customers who have bought the above products are advised not to eat them. Instead, they should return the products to where they were bought for a full refund.
Undeclared milk
In the US this week, United Natural Trading is voluntarily recalling Fresh Direct Dark Chocolate Covered Pretzels due to the presence of an undeclared milk allergen.
Recalled product:
- Fresh Direct Dark Chocolate Covered Pretzels – Lot number: 24353 – Best before: 06/30/2025 – UPC: 811102026276
