The Food Standards Agency is bringing together a range of experts on Tuesday 13 March to explore the future risks threatening food safety and the plans that are in place to tackle them.
In the spirit of National Science and Engineering Week (9 to 18 March 2012), presentations from a number of UK experts will explore how research and data analysis can help us identify emerging risks.
The issues being discussed will include:
- research methods to track and identify emerging risks to the food chain
- the risk from exotic diseases being introduced into the UK as a result of the global movement of food
- identification of potential threats using the European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed
The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion and question and answer session.
