Undeclared soya and milk result in numerous recalls

Numerous recalls have been issued by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) due to undeclared soya and milk.

Firstly, Sainsbury’s recalled Deliciously Free From 4 Fruity Hot Cross Buns by Sainsbury’s because they may contain chocolate chips which are milk-free but contain traces of soya which is not declared on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to soya.

Another undeclared soya recall was also made by Waitrose, which recalled its Waitrose Sweet Potato & Coconut Soup and Waitrose Roasted Tomato, Bean & Quinoa Soup because some of the pots have been filled with an incorrect product which contains soya that is not mentioned on the labels. Yet again meaning that there a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to soya.

There have also been a number of recalls due to undeclared milk, namely COOK Trading Ltd has recalled two further batches of Green Thai Chicken Curry because it contains milk which is not mentioned on the label, meaning the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.

A number of flavours and brands of popcorn have been recalled due to undeclared milk.

Finally, Thomas Tucker Ltd is recalling several brands and flavours of popcorn because they may contain milk which is not mentioned on the label. This again means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.

The FSA has advised consumers that if they have bought any of the above product and have an allergy to soya or an intolerance to milk or milk constituents, do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.
