EFSA is working closely with ECDC to help identify the origin of the recent outbreak of Hepatitis A virus infection in humans in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Hepatitis A is an infectious disease that can be transmitted through consumption of contaminated food or water or direct contact with an infectious person. ECDC, EFSA and the European Commission, in cooperation with the affected countries, will continue to closely monitor the situation and will provide regular updates as new information becomes available.
