FSA Chair Jeff Rooker has announced the appointment of Dr Gary Barker…
FSA Chair Jeff Rooker has announced the appointment of Dr Gary Barker as well as five reappointments to the Advisory Committee on the Microbiological Safety of Food (ACMSF). The ACMSF provides the Agency with independent advice on the microbiological safety of food.
New appointment
Dr Gary Barker is a Senior Research Scientist at the Institute of Food Research in Norwich. He has been actively involved in research science since 1981. He has carried out no political activity in the past five years and holds no other Ministerial appointments.
His term on the committee is from 1 April 2013 to 31 March 2017.
Reappointments
The reappointed members are:
- Professor Sarah O’Brien (ACMSF Chair)
- Mrs Vivianne Buller
- Mr Paul McMullin
- Professor Richard Holliman
- Professor John Coia
Professor Sarah O’Brien
Professor Sarah O’Brien is a consultant in Public Health Medicine and is currently Professor of Infection Epidemiology and Zoonoses at the University of Liverpool. Her term has been extended until 31 March 2017.
Mrs Vivianne Buller
Mrs Vivianne Buller operates a Business Improvement Catering Consultancy advising Local Authority caterers and schools on issues such as Nutrition Strategies, Food Safety, Sustainable Food Procurement and Customer Service Developments. Her term has been extended until 31 March 2015.
Mr Paul McMullin
Mr Paul McMullin is currently the Senior Veterinarian and Managing Director of Poultry Health Services. His term has been extended until 31 March 2014.
Professor Richard Holliman
Professor Richard Holliman is currently the Health Protection Agency Lead Public Health Microbiologist for London, a Consultant in Clinical Microbiology at St George’s Hospital, London and Professor of Public Health Microbiology at St George’s, University of London. His term has been extended until 31 March 2016.
Professor John Coia
Professor John Coia is a Consultant Clinical Microbiologist with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Director of the Scottish Salmonella Reference Laboratory. His term has been extended until 31 March 2017.
