The Knoxville (Iowa) Plant of Hormel Foods Corporation (NYSE:HRL), announced today that it will donate $6,000 to the Helping Hands Food Pantry and $4,000 to Meals on Wheels in Knoxville. The plant also donated funds to these organizations in 2011, 2012 and 2013.The Helping Hands Food Pantry is a local charitable organization distributing food to Knoxville’s hungry families, and Meals on Wheels delivers daily nutritious meals to the homebound elderly, ill and disabled.
“We are thrilled to partner with these organizations and contribute to their efforts to feed the families in need in our area,” said Troy M. Hawkshead, plant manager, Hormel Foods Knoxville Plant. “Our employees and the company are excited to continue fighting hunger in our community.”
For the fourth consecutive year, Hormel Foods is giving funds to U.S. manufacturing facilities to share with nonprofits in their respective communities to fight hunger. In 2014, the company will provide 39 plant locations with funds to help local organizations fight the hunger needs specific to each community.
“Hormel Foods has been able to help our plants relieve hunger in their local communities for the past three years,” said Julie H. Craven, vice president of corporate communications at Hormel Foods. “Because of the success we’ve had with this program, and as part of our ongoing commitment to helping fight hunger in the areas where we live and work, we are further expanding these donations to a total of 39 locations.”
