PepsiCo received the award for Best Governance, Risk and Compliance Program (Large-Cap Company) at last night’s New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) Governance Services’ inaugural Governance, Risk & Compliance Leadership Awards.

The Leadership Awards recognize “outstanding companies and individuals who have demonstrated noteworthy efforts in the areas of governance, risk, and compliance,” and “underscore the role that corporate governance plays in dictating a company’s success and a board’s contribution to long-term value,” according to the NYSE Governance Services website.

“Corporate governance plays a large role in dictating a company’s success as well as a board’s contribution to long-term value, which is why we are so excited to recognize outstanding companies and individuals who have gone above and beyond the basic requirements of governance, risk and compliance with our Leadership Awards,” said Jean-Marc Levy, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Issuer Services at NYSE.

PepsiCo’s focus on governance, risk and compliance matters is embedded in Performance with Purpose, the company’s vision for delivering sustained financial performance, while doing the right things for people and communities around the world.

“We believe that acting ethically and responsibly is not only the right thing to do, but the right thing for our business,” said Cynthia A. Nastanski, Senior Vice President, Corporate Law and Deputy Corporate Secretary. “Strong corporate governance is key to our success and the foundation for financial integrity, investor confidence and long-term superior performance.”

Additionally, the company ensures that PepsiCo’s values, which are articulated in PepsiCo’s Global Code of Conduct, are fully understood by employees through frequent communication and in-depth training on a variety of topics and policies, including anti-bribery, human rights, risk management, ethics and public disclosure.

“Our relentless pursuit of excellence in how we conduct our business starts with a commitment at the top, is supported by our integrated and collaborative ethical framework, and is cascaded throughout our organization through continual communication and training on best practices in governance, risk management and compliance and ethics,” said Debra Torres, Senior Vice President, Chief Compliance and Ethics Officer.

“PepsiCo’s governance, risk and compliance program was and will continue to be a team effort.”
