Nestlé Spain will spend EUR 102 million on a new energy efficient line for Nescafé soluble coffee at its Girona factory to boost production by 30 percent.
The company will make the new investment between 2015 and 2017, and will expand production capacity to 30,000 tonnes per year. All additional coffee produced will be exported, primarily to other European countries.
Nescafé soluble coffee has been manufactured at the Girona factory since 1968
Technological advances mean that the line will use 40% less energy and 33% less water per kilogram of product manufactured than existing lines at the Girona site, which produces Nescafé Dolce Gusto capsules as well as soluble coffee.
Between 2007 and 2014 Nestlé invested a further EUR 236 million at the Girona site, and has manufactured Nescafé soluble coffee here since 1968, and Nescafé Dolce Gusto capsules since 2009. €
