In this week’s Recall Roundup we look at food recalls in the UK and US including a Hotel Chocolat product that may contain pieces of glass.
Foreign objects
In the UK, Hotel Chocolat is recalling “Hotel Chocolat Choose Your Poison” chocolates as they may contain pieces of glass.
The recalled product comes in a pack size of 160g. Lot codes to look out for include 23205, 23206, and 23207. The best before date of the recalled product is January 2024 and is sold at Hotel Chocolat stores, online and at retailer John Lewis.
As well as recalling the above product, point of sales notices are being displayed in all retail stores to explain why the product is being recalled.
Those that have purchased the product have been advised not to eat it. They can instead return it to the store of purchase for a full refund.
Undeclared allergens
Elsewhere in the UK, supermarket giant Asda is recalling its Classic Boneless Chicken Dinner Joint as it contains wheat that isn’t declared on the label.
The product comes in a pack size of 580g and has a use by date of 01 October 2023.
Asda is recalling the above product from customers and has now contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will inform their members about the recall. In addition to this, the supermarket has displayed a recall notice for its customers.
Those that have purchased the product and have coeliac disease, and/or an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, have been advised not eat it. Instead, the product can be returned to the store of purchase for a full refund.
Meanwhile, in the US, Penzeys Spices of Wauwatosa, is recalling some of its 2.2 ounce Jars of Brady Street Cheese Sprinkle as they may contain undeclared sesame seeds.
The recalled Brady Street Cheese Sprinkle products were distributed nationwide but only to Penzeys Retail Stores and via Internet or Phone orders beginning 5 July 2023.
The product is packages in a 2.2 ounce clear glass jar with the following information printed on the label:Batch/Lot # 37652-1 or 37652-2 and “BEST BY JUL 2024”.
The company has highlighted that “no other sizes or lots are affected by this voluntary recall”. It has also claimed that “no illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this recall”.
Those that have purchased that product and have an allergy to sesame should be aware that the impacted 2.2 ounce Jars of Brady Street Cheese Sprinkle are eligible for replacement or full refund.
