Undeclared sulphites

In the UK, Iceland is recalling its Iceland 4 Creamy Chicken Pies as they may contain sulphites that are not mentioned on the label.

The recalled product comes in a pack size of 568g and has a best before date of 12 September 2025.

As well as recalling the Creamy Chicken Pies, Iceland has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations that will inform their members about the recall. In addition to this, the retailer has issued point of sale notices to explain why the product is being recalled.

Customers that have purchased the recalled item have been advised to return it to the store of purchase for a full refund if they have a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites.

Pathogens

Meanwhile in the US, Bristol Farms is recalling Chicken Taco Kit 9oz as the Chipotle Crema sauce cup has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The product has a sell by date of 1/18/24 and the UPC code 207490 509994. It was manufactured using the Rizo-López Foods, Inc recalled Cojita cheese. On 2/5/2024, Rizo-López Foods initiated a recall of dairy items, including cotija cheese, under multiple brand names.

How to reduce the damage from recalls

The product was sold in various Bristol Farms California retail store locations, including: Hollywood, Manhattan Beach, Newport Beach, Palm Desert, Rolling Hills, Santa Barbara, Santa Monica, South Pasadena, West Hollywood, Westchester, Westwood, Woodland Hills, and Yorba Linda.

Bristol Farms has claimed that “no illnesses have been reported to date in connection to this product”.

Advice states that those that have purchased the recalled product should discard it or return it to the store of purchase for a full refund.
