In the latest instalment of Recall Roundup, we highlight recent food and beverage recalls in the UK and US.

Recall Roundup: animal matter contamination and undeclared allergens

Insect contamination

In the UK, TK Maxx and Homesense are recalling selected batches of Kintra Foods Organic Premium Leaf Teas as some of the products contain insects.

The products being recalled include “Kintra Foods Organic Premium Leaf Teas Calm & Relax”, which comes in a 60g pack. The batch codes to look out for are 6057, 6071, 6118, 6126 and 6207.

In addition the retailers are recalling “Kintra Foods Organic Premium Leaf Teas Chamomile” which comes in a pack size of 40g and has either of the following batch codes:5887 and 6111.

Finally, TK Maxx and Homesense are recalling “Kintra Foods Organic Premium Leaf Teas Sleepy” which comes in a 40g pack size. The batch codes involved in this recall are 6058, 6102 and 6125.

As well as recalling the aforementioned products, the retailers will be displaying point of sale notices in stores that sold the product.

Advice to consumers states that anyone that have bought the product should not consume them and instead they should return them to any TK Maxx or Home Sense store for a full refund.

Undeclared allergens

Meanwhile, in the US, Heinen’s of Ohio is recalling its Heinen’s Tuscan Salad Bowls, as they may contain undeclared peanuts.

The company has claimed that there have been no reports of injury however they are recalling the product “out of an abundance of caution”.

The Tuscan Salad Bowls were distributed in Ohio and Illinois in various Heinen’s retail locations.

Consumers should look out for containers that have the UPC code UPC of 2-08888- 40849-3 and a Sell By Date of 06.02.24.

Heinen’s has claimed that no illnesses have been reported to date in relation to this recall.

Advice to consumers states that anyone who has purchased the product should discard it and return it to a local Heinen’s store for a full refund.
