In the latest instalment of Recall Roundup we highlight recent food and beverage recalls in the UK and US.

Foreign objects

In the UK, Johnston Mooney & O’Brien has announced that it is recalling various baked products as they may contain small pieces of metal.

Included in the recall are products such as burger buns and hot dog rolls. To read the full list of products included in this recall, including their pack size and best before date, click here.

As well as recalling the products, Johnston Mooney & O’Brien has confirmed that point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products to explain to consumers why the product is being recalled.

Advice states that anyone who has purchased the products should not eat them, and instead they should be returned to the store of purchase for a full refund.

Pathogens

Meanwhile in the US, AB World Foods US, Inc is recalling its Al’Fez Natural Tahini as the product has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

The product in question comes in 5.6oz glass jars and was distributed nationwide in retail stores from  05/26/23.

The UPC code to look out for is 711464506778, and the best before dates involved are “2024 JL 11” or later.

Lot numbers involved in this recall are as follows: “3031”, “3080”, “3270”, “3297” with corresponding BEST BEFORE: “2024 JL 31”; “2024 SE 09”; “2025 MR 27”; “2025 AL 04”.

The company claims that its has received no reports of illness in relation to the recalled product from consumers in the US.

Advice to consumers states that anyone who has purchased the Al’Fez Natural Tahini 5.6oz with the affected lot codes should discontinue use immediately and then return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.

AB World Foods US has emphasised that if a consumer experiences the symptoms listed above and believes they may have been exposed to Salmonella, they are urged to contact a medical provider.
