In the latest instalment of Recall Roundup (8-14 November 2024), New Food highlights recent food and beverage recalls in the UK and US.
Undeclared peanuts
In the UK, FGS Ingredients Ltd is continuing its recent major recall on food and spice products that contain mustard.
These products are being recalled as they may contain peanuts not listed on the label, posing a serious health risk for individuals with a peanut allergy.
Customers are advised to check the latest allergy alert on the FSA website for updated products added to the recall list.
Anyone who has purchased any of these products and has a peanut allergy should not consume them. Instead, they should return the products to the store where they were bought for a full refund.
Potential animal matter contamination
The Happy Pear is recalling various products because they may contain animal matter, making the product unsafe to consume.
The recalled products are:
- Happy Pear Red Pepper Hummus, 150g, batch code: 4304, use by 11 December 2024
- Happy Pear Caramelised Onion Hummus, 150g, batch code: 4305, use by 12 December 2024
- Happy Pear Reduced Fat Hummus, 150g, batch code: 4304, use by 11 December 2024
- Happy Pear Hummus Triple Dip, 180g, batch code: 4303, use by 10 December 2024
- Moroccan Style Hummus, 150g, batch code: 4305, use by: 12 December 2024
Consumers are advised not to consume any of these products. Instead, return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund.
Potential Listeria monocytogenes
In the US this week, CIBUS Fresh is recalling its products containing Glenview Farms Spreadable Brie (2/3 lb) due to a supplier notification of possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause severe, sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. In pregnant women, infection can lead to miscarriage or stillbirth.
The recalled Autumn Turkey Sandwich product was distributed in six states under the following labels: CIBUS Fresh, Jack & Olive, and Sprig and Sprout.
No other CIBUS Fresh products are affected by this recall.
For UPCs and best-before dates of all recalled products, please refer to the FDA recall page here.
Undeclared egg
The latest recalls in the US have seen two brands recall products this week due to the potential presence of undeclared egg.
People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to egg run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The recalled products include:
- Gilster Mary Lee Corporation’s Bowl & Basket Onion Soup Mix with the UPC 41190-08394 and Best By date of SEP 27 25 E07 and OCT 11 25 E09.
- Wegmans Food Markets’ Asian Sesame Salad with Chicken & Asian Dressing. This includes any products containing a UPC starting with 2-27306 and Sell By Dates: 11/7 – 11/10.
Both products should be returned for a full refund.
