In the latest instalment of Recall Roundup (10-16 January 2025), New Food highlights recent food and beverage recalls in the UK and US.
Undeclared milk
Following their announcement last week, TJX Europe has added several other flavours to their ongoing recall of Sultans Turkish Delight products. The recall is due to the affected products containing milk, which is not mentioned on the label. This poses a potential health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk.
The additional recalled products are:
- Sultans Chocolate Covered Rose Delight (250g) – Product code: 760251 and best before 15 October 2026
- Sultans Chocolate Covered Pomegranate Delight (250g) – Product code: 760252 and best before 15 October 2026
- Sultans Chocolate Covered Almond Delight (250g) – Product code: 760253 and best before 15 October 2026
- Sultans Chocolate Covered Rose Turkish Delight (250g) – Product code: 760256 and best before 15 October 2026
- Sultans Chocolate Covered Ginger Turkish Delight (250g) – Product code: 760257 and best before 15 October 2026
If you have bought the above products and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, do not eat them. Instead, return them to any TK Maxx or Homesense store for a refund or a replacement.
Undeclared milk
Another UK company, David Wood Baking Ltd, is also issuing a recall due to a labelling oversight involving milk.
The affected product, Farmfoods 50 Cocktail Sausage Rolls (batch code: L4295, best before October 2025), contains cheese and onion rolls made with milk that is not declared on the label.
If you have purchased this product and have a milk allergy, return it to the store where it was bought for a full refund.
Undeclared egg
In the US this week, the Mochi Ice Cream Company LLC is recalling 1,350 cases of My Mochi Peach Mango Sorbet due to undeclared pasteurised cooked egg white, posing a risk of serious allergic reactions for those with egg allergies.
The product was distributed nationwide, and two minor allergic reactions have been reported. The affected lots are 337-24 and 341-24.
Consumers should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Foreign matter contamination
Bestway Sandwiches Inc. is recalling 24,870 pounds of frozen chicken and cheese taquitos due to potential metal contamination.
The affected products, produced on July 3, 2024, and September 25, 2024, are 20-oz. packages of Casa Mamita Chicken & Cheese Taquitos with best by dates 07/03/25 and 09/25/25, sold at select ALDI stores nationwide.
The recall was prompted by consumer complaints about metal in the product, including one injury report. No further injuries or illnesses have been reported.
Consumers are urged to discard or return the affected products to the store for a refund.
Undeclared milk
Lifestyle Evolution Inc. is recalling select lots of NuGo Dark Chocolate Chip and Dark Chocolate Pretzel nutrition bars because they may contain undeclared milk.
NuGo Dark Chocolate Chip and NuGo Dark Pretzel are individually wrapped bars packed in 12 or 18ct multipack boxes.
For the full product information including lot codes, item numbers and best by dates, check the FDA’s recall announcement page.
The recall was initiated after the firm received 11 consumer reports of allergic reaction experienced after consuming the product.
Consumers are advised that the recalled product can be returned to the place of purchase.
Undeclared milk
The Quaker Oats Company has issued a recall for a limited number of its two-pound boxes of Pearl Milling Company Original Pancake & Waffle Mix due to undeclared milk, following a retailer alert.
The product was sold from November 18, 2024, in 11 states: Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, Utah, and Wisconsin. No allergic reactions have been reported.
Only the batch with the best before date of 13 SEP 25 is affected.
Consumers with a milk allergy or sensitivity should not consume the product and should dispose of it. Quaker has notified the FDA of the recall.
