Undeclared red and yellow food dye

In the US this week, Kedake is recalling its 2 lb packages of Las Ollas Botana Mix Snacks because they may contain undeclared sesame, soy, wheat, Yellow No. 5, Yellow No. 6, and Red No. 6.

People with an allergy or severe sensitivity to any of these ingredients run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Las Ollas Botana Mix Snacks (2 lb packages) were distributed in Texas and sold through wholesale and retail stores.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

Consumers who have purchased this product are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Undeclared allergens

ZB Importing LLC is voluntarily recalling certain lots of six varieties of Ulker Brand snack rolls, biscuits and wafers due to undeclared wheat, egg, and/or milk in the ingredient list and/or “Contains” statement on the product labels.

People with an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat, egg, or milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The full list of recalled products can be found here.

This mislabelling was discovered after a single consumer complaint regarding an allergic reaction. The issue originated from a supplier who inadvertently failed to fully disclose all allergens while translating the ingredient list.

The company has stated that they are “actively working” with the supplier to implement stricter labelling controls, including an additional verification process for multilingual labels.

Consumers who have purchased any Ulker Brand products are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Undeclared milk

Kayco is recalling its Glicks Dark Chocolate Conettos because they may contain undeclared milk.

People with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The company has received no reports of illness or injury to date.

The company has stated that they immediately informed all retailers who had purchased this lot code about the recall and instructed them to inspect their inventory or remove any potentially affected products from their shelves.

Consumers who may have purchased this product are advised to inspect their product for Lot Code 02092024. Consumers may return the product for credit or a refund.

Possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination

Lyons Magnus is voluntarily recalling 4 oz. Lyons ReadyCare and Sysco Imperial Frozen Supplemental Shakes due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause severe, sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.

Healthy individuals may experience short-term symptoms, including fever, headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhoea. For pregnant women, infection can result in miscarriage or stillbirth.

The full list of recalled products can be found on the FDA recall alert page here.

According to a statement from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), there have been 38 reported illnesses associated with the strain of Listeria monocytogenes that may have contaminated these products, including 11 deaths.

Anyone who has a recalled product in their possession should quarantine it immediately.
