Dr. Hubert Deluyker has been appointed as the Director of EFSA’s new Science Strategy and Coordination Directorate.
With over seven years senior managerial experience at the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), Dr. Hubert Deluyker has been appointed to oversee the Authority’s new Science Strategy and Coordination Directorate. The Directorate coordinates the implementation of EFSA’s science strategy and reinforces engagement and cooperation with stakeholders and international partners. It coordinates, together with the two operational scientific Directorates, EFSA’s risk assessment activities and manages cross‐cutting scientific issues.
As Director, Dr. Deluyker oversees the strategic planning of EFSA’s scientific activities and the implementation of its science strategy, the coordination of the Authority’s scientific cooperation and work in specific areas such as emerging risks in the food and feed chain. Dr. Deluyker will also ensure that the Authority provides the necessary support to its Scientific Committee and Advisory Forum.
A qualified veterinarian and a specialist in the field of epidemiology, Dr. Deluyker joined EFSA in 2004. Prior to moving to his current role, he was the Director of EFSA’s former Scientific Co-operation and Assistance Directorate from 2007 to May 2011 and Director of the Risk Assessment and Scientific Assistance Directorate from May to October 2011.
