Discover how OAL are using the very latest in artificial intelligence technology to protect brands from costly human errors in the food manufacturing industry at Empack 2018, a show dedicated to the future of packaging technology…
OAL will be demonstrating their modular-based market-leading OAL Connected software on their stand G4. The all in one software package uses automation to help manufacturers comply with retailer codes of practice and protect them from product recalls and emergency product withdrawals caused by avoidable human errors when labelling and packaging products. These can have a catastrophic impact on a food manufacturer’s brand and business and costs the industry £millions a year.
OAL Connected’s additional modules including the recently developed Line Performance and OEE add-ons help manufacturers get more from their current factory set-ups by improving safety, monitoring performance and productivity and providing full traceability, ERP validation and recipe management. With OAL Connected, manufacturers have full mobile visibility and maximised control of all areas of the production process from the validation of raw materials to the finished goods.
Experts from the OAL Connected team including ex Technical Manager (now Head of OAL Connected) Wayne Johnson will be on board to guide you through a hands-on demonstration of the software so you can experience the benefits of adopting automation and future-proofing your brand and factory with OAL Connected.
The proven software is already securing brands, label and date codes on over 1,100 packaging lines at a number of major manufacturers including Bakkavor, Heinz and Greencore.
OAL will also be officially launching and demoing their next generation APRIL Eye technology at the show, the latest addition to the modular based OAL Connected system. Using artificial intelligence, APRIL Eye can read back date codes just like a human, fully automating the date code verification process and removing human error from the process. The highly advanced technology enables machine reading close to the performance of the human eye.
At Empack, OAL will be demoing the APRIL Eye technology on a conveyor (emulating a factory setup) for the very first time for manufacturers and retailers to see. APRIL Eye aims to reduce the wastage associated with product recalls and withdrawals caused by human error, a challenge that costs the food manufacturing industry £Millions a year.
The patent pending APRIL Eye technology has been developed as part of OAL’s Food Manufacturing Digitalisation Strategy supported by the University of Lincoln and an Innovate UK grant. It has also had support and great interest from one of the UK’s largest retailers and food manufacturers.
