Randox Food Diagnostics are pleased to announce the release of both an Avermectins biochip testing platform (EV3842) and Avermectin ELISA (AV3477). These kits have been developed specifically for the growing need for these residues to be tested at border inspection points, slaughter houses and import houses as a method to rapidly and easily screen for the avermectin residues (anthelmintic compound).

The Avermectin biochip testing platform is used in conjunction with the patented Randox Biochip Array Technology and Evidence Investigator analyser. This new test complements a wide range of testing platforms for antimicrobial and growth promoting compounds already offered.

The use of a generic antibody ensures that residues of Ivermectin, Abamectin, Doramectin, Emamectin benzoate and Eprimomectin can all be detected. All or some of these drugs have been noted as marker residues in food by the European Union, CODEX, Canada and the United States of America. Excellent limits of detection (0.75ppb) are achieved with the biochip platform in both milk and beef muscle; ensuring compliance with regulatory tolerance requirements is achieved. A competitive ELISA (AV3477) has also been released which detects avermectins residues in milk and urine. This ELISA aims to give a fast and reliable, analytical method. If performing the test using duplicate wells, this kit has the ability to analyse 40 samples and achieves limits of detection of 0.4ppb for milk and 7.8ppb for urine.
