The joint venture of Puratos and Estonian Malt aims to optimise production processes, improve packaging and shelf-life and collaboratively develop new product ranges.
Puratos, an international group that offers a range of products, raw materials and application expertise to the bakery, patisserie and chocolate sector, and Estonian Malt, which specialises in sprouted and fermented wholegrains, have partnered to launch Puratos Malt.
The joint venture will produce and distribute malt flours and sprouted grains to the bakery, food service and food manufacturing industries.
Estonian Malt ferments grains after they have sprouted, which is said to develop a unique, naturally sweet taste while retaining the freshness of the bread.
Puratos has said its ethos is based around consumer health and well-being, and that it aims to improve the nutritional value of its products and launch cleaner labels, as well as organic and plant-based alternatives.
“Puratos is committed to delivering healthier solutions across all product categories and this new venture with Estonian Malt is very much part of that strategy. We know from our recent Taste Tomorrow survey that consumers believe healthy eating is just as much about eliminating unhealthy ingredients as it is about adding wholesome ones. This joint venture is focused on delivering products with the highest possible nutritional value, as well as great taste,” said Julia Darvill, General Manager, Puratos UK.
The joint venture also aims to optimise production processes, improve packaging and shelf-life and develop new product ranges.
