The New Food editorial team interview two experts on the importance of good quality soil.
In this latest episode of Food to Go, Bethan Grylls and Joshua Minchin discuss desertification – the degradation of land – and how poor soil will influence our food supply chain.
Featuring the expertise of Dr Richard Byron-Cox of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, and Gideon Ashworth, soil enthusiast and Head of Food Defence at Bart Ingredients, we learn how desertification occurs, how it relates to the food chain, and whether there’s a way to fix our Earth’s soil from the damage already done.
To read Ashworth’s piece on soil (mentioned in the podcast), in which he further elaborates on the importance of good quality soil, please click here.
If you enjoyed listening to Dr Byron-Cox and Ashworth, you can hear more from both of them at our upcoming virtual conference Food Integrity 2021.
