Recent Advances in Food Analysis (RAFA 2015) held its 7th International Symposium in Prague from the 3rd – 6th November 2015, and New Food were lucky enough to be involved.
This event provided an overview of the state-of-the-art on analytical and bioanalytical food quality and safety control strategies, and introduced the challenges for novel approaches in this field.
The symposium provided a platform to address many recent and emerging issues, including Food Fraud, Allergens, Contaminants, Pesticide residues and Food Analysis. There were many opportunities available to attendees including poster sessions, workshops, vendor seminars, interactive seminars, as well as an exhibition which included some of the most modern instrumentation recently used in food analysis.
At RAFA, there was also a preview of Food Integrity, an event which is to be held in Prague in April 2016. Here we had the chance to put our food fraud detection skills into practice; by trying to smell out adulterated olive oil; detecting the better quality whiskey; and telling wild smoked salmon from farmed salmon. The conference in April will focus on the latest research and developments in the field of food integrity.
