Application Scientist Oliver Lerch, Ph.D. presents automated sample preparation.
When performing chemical analysis of food, sample preparation is frequently the most labor intensive part.
For example, to determine 3-MCPD in edible oil, antibiotics in egg products, or crop protectants in vegetables, interfering sample matrix must be removed and the sample prepared for analysis. The GERSTEL MultiPurpose Sampler (MPS) can automate many sample preparation tasks including extraction and clean-up steps.
Everything is set up by mouse-click in the MAESTRO Software, existing validated manual methods can be transferred 1 to 1 and automated.
Examples are: Filtration to remove solids, liquid-liquid extraction, centrifugation, solid phase extraction, and evaporative concentration for improved limits of determination.
The daily sequence table is set up by just a few mouse-clicks, including every step from sample preparation to GC/MS or LC/MS analysis.
