Mineral oil food contamination is a serious problem across the EU. LECO’s GCxGC-TOFMS is able to determine MOSH and MOAH with a single-run method.
Across the EU, food contamination by mineral oils from production processes and packaging is becoming a serious problem for public health institutions and governments. In this study, comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC×GC) in combination with time-of-flight mass spectrometry was evaluated in order to find a robust, one-run analytical method for the determination of MOSH (Mineral Oil Saturated Hydrocarbons) and MOAH (Mineral Oil Aromatic Hydrocarbons) compounds.
